About Us
Who are the organisers of the TT2000? There are two of us, father & son. We are motorcycle riders from Christchurch who just had the idea one day to put up a web site seeing if anyone else was interested in having a weekend of extended riding in our beautiful backyard. We're not a company or even an actual organisation. That's why it's important you appreciate this is not a formally-organised event and thus there is no entry fee. You join us at your own risk as if you were setting off on your own ride. It's just that we've acted as a forum to get other riders on the road too.
MIKE HYDE Mike has ridden the odd long distance trip. 17,000 kms around the edge of Australia solo in 2006 and 32,000 kms on a solo 50-states-in-60-days ride in America in 2008, both on a Suzuki DL1000 V-Strom. You may have read his book Twisting Throttle Australia. The sequel Twisting Throttle America is in the shops now. The sordid details of his rides including a bike-less trip to Antarctica are on the web site www.twistingthrottle.com
ROBERT HYDE Robert, the youthful face of the team, is responsible for the signage, graphic design & achievers packs. He rides a Kawasaki KLX300 and the rougher the terrain the better. Robert is not averse to a road ride but prefers the knobbly tyred alternatives.
